Course objective : The aim of the course is to convey to doctoral students, under the guidance of their supervisors, the fundamental research topics and problems pertinent to the field in which the thesis is to be written, to clarify the general framework of their chosen subject and its associated sub-research topics of the thesis, to identify potential research problems, and to compile a sample literature review that reveals the definition and significance of the problem for at least one of the identified sub-research topics.
Learning outcomes : Students who complete this course successfully; -Gain familiarity with the fundamental research topics and problem areas in the field in which the thesis is to be written. -Can identify thel topic for the thesis in general terms. -Can identify sub-research topics pertinent to the subject of the thesis. -Can identify potential research problems pertinent to the thesis topic. -Can prepare a sample literature review to identify the definition and significance of the problem for at least one of the identified sub-research topics. -Can convert the gathered academic literature into a compilation that adheres to the principles of scientific writing. -Can comply with academic ethical standards.
Course content : Receiving guidance and information from the supervisor regarding main research topics and problem areas pertinent to the field in which the thesis is to be written; clarifying the general framework of the thesis subject and related sub-research topics, and defining potential research problems; preparing a sample literature compilation that explains the definition and significance of the problem through comprehensive readings and discussions on at least one identified sub-research topic.
