Course objective : The aim of this course is to enable graduate students, under the guidance of their supervisors, to select appropriate research methodologies related to the thesis problems formulated in the prerequisite course, attain the requisite knowledge for conducting data collection and analysis, develop a draft of the thesis content in accordance with scientific writing rules, and prepare the thesis proposal at the end of the semester.
Learning outcomes : Students who successfully complete this course; -Can choose research methods appropriate to the thesis topic. -Can determine and use data collection tools. -Can choose and use basic techniques for data analysis. -Can prepare a draft of the thesis content in scientific format. -Can prepare the thesis proposal. -Gain competence in thesis writing. -Can work in accordance with academic ethical rules.
Course content : Identifying the suitable research methodology in relation to the fundamental research problems of their thesis, planning the data collecting and analysis procedures, composing the draft content of thesis and preparing the thesis proposal.

1 Introduction: Purpose, scope, and basic rules of the course
2 Examining students' performances (deficiencies, if any) in the course, which is the prerequisite for this course.
3 Clarifying sub-research questions/hypotheses within the framework of the main research problem of the thesis
4 Selection and justification of the research method(s) to be used in the thesis
5 Selection of data collection tools if the research has an empirical dimension / application of field-specific methods if it does not have an empirical dimension (between the 5th and 12th weeks)
6 Preparing data collection tools and making a pilot application plan
7 Planning and time management of the data collection process
8 Evaluation of problems arising in data collection practices
9 Data analysis techniques: Introduction to basic statistical techniques
10 Software and tools used in data analysis
11 Analysis of data
12 Interpreting data analysis findings and reporting the pilot application
