The HÜSMART project aims to develop an SAE Level 4 (L4) autonomous ring shuttle to operate within the Beytepe Campus. The project focuses on enabling safe and highly accurate autonomous driving by fusing data from multiple sensing modalities, including LiDAR, stereo cameras (visible + NIR), radar, ultrasonic sensors, and RTK-GNSS/IMU systems.

The developed system will be supported by a ROS2- and Autoware-based autonomous driving software stack, high-definition campus maps (HD Maps), and digital twin simulation environments. These components will allow extensive testing of diverse operational scenarios—such as pedestrian interactions, night-time driving, and sensor fault conditions—prior to real-world deployment. In addition, remote monitoring and safe-stop mechanisms will be integrated via 4.5G/5G/LTE communication infrastructure.

Beyond providing a sustainable and intelligent campus transportation solution, the HÜSMART project aims to establish a living laboratory for students and researchers. The project is expected to contribute significantly to Hacettepe University's digital transformation vision through scientific publications, graduate theses, and innovative technological applications.

We congratulate our faculty member and the project team on this achievement and wish them continued success.
