Syllabus
ELE 417 Embedded System Design
In this course we will be covering the embedded system topics to understand/use and implement programs on microcontrollers.
The course will consist of teachings from the TI MSP430 Low Power microcontroller.
You are expected to show up at the first class for organization of the course and introduction.
Prerequisite: Please take the “test” before considering to take this course!
Attention:
There is a quota on the number of people
that can take the course due
to scarce laboratory resources.
The quota may
be expanded during the add drop
week. There will be no quota
change during the registration week.

The course will be based primarily on slides shown below but we also strongly reecommend:

Essentials for
the course:
Grading:
Midterm %20,
Labs 30%,
Final Grade (Project %30, Final Exam
%20) %50
Attempts of cheating in Lab and Homeworks
will NOT be TOLERATED. No exceptions.
Attendance: Required in ALL course hours and ALL LAB hours. There will be lab hours (3-4 times/14 weeks) apart from course hours.
An attendance to at least 70% of the course is required.
Otherwise you WILL receive an F1 grade for not attending the course which makes you ineligable to take the final exam.
Project: You need to complete a challenging project task based on the MSP-EXP430G2ET or MSP-EXP430FR4133 development kit.
So you need to order this kit from necessary resources after Week1 of the course to make it available as soon as possible.
The documentation on the Launchpad is here.
In this project you (as a project group) will design your own microcontroller boards for a certain TASK.
PROJECT DETAILS WILL BE UPDATED for 2019!!
